Brightwood Animal Hospital Standard Dental Package

Just as with humans, your pet’s dental care is an important part of their overall health and wellness. Our comprehensive oral and radiographic evaluation dental package bundles a collection of necessary services designed to clean and polish teeth, a full examination and full mouth dental x-rays to allow our doctors to create an appropriate and personalized treatment plan for your pet.

Dental Cleanings

Why is this important?

Proper dental care is a key component to your pet’s overall health. Maintaining their dental hygiene can reduce the risk of additional health problems, including localized bone infection and circulation of harmful bacteria throughout the body, and improves your pet’s comfort and longevity.

What is covered in the procedure?

Prior to your pet’s scheduled dental cleaning and evaluation, we will complete bloodwork screening and perform a physical examination to ensure your pet is a good candidate for anesthesia. A personalized anesthetic protocol specific to your pet, is developed by our doctors and includes comprehensive monitoring throughout the procedure. When your pet has been anesthetized, the doctor will complete a full examination of the oral cavity, including taking whole mouth dental x-rays, followed by a thorough cleaning that includes ultrasonic scaling, subgingival cleaning, polishing, irrigation, and probing of each tooth.

Dental Radiography

Why is this important?

Dental radiography, otherwise known as dental x-rays, can provide indispensable information in identifying and characterizing diseases below the gum line. In addition, x-rays allow our doctors to determine if teeth need to be extracted or if they can be saved with proper cleaning and treatment. Dental x-rays also allow us to have a comprehensive medical record through your pet’s life ensuring we properly monitor your pet’s dental health and progression of any potential dental challenges down the road.

What is covered in the procedure?

During your pet’s routine evaluation and cleaning, our medical team will take full mouth x-rays of your pets’ oral cavity. These x-rays allow our medical team to evaluate health below the gumline including tissue, teeth and supporting bones of the jaw.

Oral Surgery

How will I know if my pet needs oral surgery?

During your pet’s evaluation and cleaning, if a doctor determines extractions are necessary, our team will contact you regarding the treatment plan and provide a tailored estimate based on your pet’s needs. Once approved, our medical team will perform the necessary oral surgery. Taking care of extractions immediately saves you time and money and decreases the need for a second anesthetic procedure.

Why is it needed?

Pets, similar to humans, can experience a variety of uncomfortable and unsafe dental conditions. From tooth decay to gingivitis to oral disease, there are many reasons oral surgery could be recommended for your pet.

What is covered in the procedure?

Depending on the type of recommended surgery, your pet will remain anesthetized while our doctor determines the proper approach for removal based on the tooth/teeth. Teeth will be removed, the area will be cleaned and the gum tissue will be closed with dissolvable sutures.
